Our Charities

All proceeds of The Pennyroyal Players’ concerts and other efforts are passed through to local charities; since our inception in 2004, we have contributed over $165,000 to numerous charities which benefit our community in many ways.

Our list of charities includes:

Tech Trek

Every year, The Pennyroyal Players sends two girls to the American Association of University Women's Tech Trek summer camp each year, providing a lifetime experience in science and math activities.

Los Cancioneros Scholarships

The Pennyroyal Players funds scholarships for Los Cancioneros Master Chorale annually. These scholarships are awarded through competitions held among local musicians who are pursuing a degree in music.

Palos Verdes Schools

The Pennyroyal Players have contributed over $15,000 to the Palos Verdes School District to support music in the elementary grades. In addition, they were a donor to the Palos Verdes Costume Closet when it was in operation.

Liz Cantine’s “Ready, Willing & Able”

The Pennyroyal Players contribute annually to fund this program of music and dance for special needs students and Down’s syndrome young adults.

Lauridsen Ballet Center, Torrance and Palos Verdes Peninsula Ballet

The Pennyroyal Players award scholarships to gifted and underprivileged dance students.

LA Challenge

The Pennyroyal Players have contributed to this program to further the education of targeted gifted students in the South Bay area.

Jester Hairston Documentary

The Pennyroyal Players contributed $1,100 to the project to document the life of Jester Hairston, the composer of numerous beloved American Spirituals. The project resulted in a video documenting his life.

Scary Stories

The Pennyroyals honor Melanie Jones annually with a grant to assist her production of the acclaimed yearly live production of SCARY STORIES in San Pedro.

Little Fish Theatre

Every year, The Pennyroyals support the Actors’ Fund at Little Fish Theatre in San Pedro.
